Terms of Service
Last updated October 18, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Media Variance LLC, doing business as Surrad ("Surrad", "we") for use of Surrad. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
1. Accounts and workspaces
- Work is organised as workspace → brand → campaign. The workspace owner controls billing and elevated roles; admins, editors and approvers have progressively narrower permissions.
- You are responsible for your account credentials and for what the people you invite do in your workspace. Tell us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised.
- Each pending invitation reserves a seat against your plan. Platform administration is a separate, internal function; it is not part of your workspace access.
- Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
2. Plans, seats and allowances
- Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Each paid month grants that plan's sourced-address allowance and AI credits, and sets your per-piece mailing rates and seat limit. Plans do not include mailed postcards: every card mailed is charged per card.
- Upgrades apply immediately. You are charged the prorated difference for the rest of the current month, after credit for the unused time on your old plan, and your allowances top up by the difference between the two plans — not a second full month.
- Downgrades apply at the end of the paid period. Nothing is refunded or credited and no allowances are taken back; you keep the plan you paid for until it ends, and the lower price applies from the next cycle.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Your allowances and access continue until then. We do not provide partial-month refunds.
- Managed plan. On Managed, Surrad's designers prepare your postcard designs from your brief and schedule and release your mailings on your behalf. Each card mailed is charged at the Managed per-card price.
- AI credits. Each paid month adds your plan's AI credits: 10 on Starter, 20 on Growth and 75 on Managed. Generating an image uses 1 credit and generating a postcard design uses 3. Unused credits carry forward, and you can buy more within the service.
- When a paid period ends without renewal, Starter limits apply to new seats. Existing team members, saved cards and remaining credits are retained.
- If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it. We will tell you, and your access continues during the retry window.
3. Wallet and credits
- Mailing and tracking numbers are paid from a prepaid wallet. Sourced addresses use your plan's monthly allowance first, then the wallet.
- Credits and wallet funds are for use within the service. They are not a deposit, earn no interest, and are not redeemable for cash.
- Test and live balances are entirely separate. Test activity cannot spend live funds and cannot cause real mail to be produced.
- If a payment is refunded or successfully disputed, we reverse what it bought. Where the credits have already been spent we recover what remains and record the shortfall.
4. Your content and your lists
You keep ownership of everything you put into Surrad: your brand material, designs, images and mailing lists. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service for you — to store your content, render and print it, and send it to the print and mail provider so it can be posted.
By uploading or connecting a mailing list you confirm that:
- You have the right to hold those records and to send postal mail to those people.
- The records were obtained lawfully, and you will honour opt-out and suppression requests.
- You have the rights to every logo, photograph, font and trademark in your designs.
This matters more than the usual boilerplate: we act on your instructions when we mail someone, and we rely on you being entitled to give that instruction.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Surrad to send mail that:
- Is deceptive about who sent it, or impersonates another business or person.
- Makes claims you cannot substantiate, or that a regulator requires you to qualify.
- Harasses, threatens or targets an individual.
- Is unlawful where it is posted, or breaches postal service rules.
- Promotes content you are not licensed or permitted to advertise.
Also do not attempt to breach the service's security, access another workspace's data, or use the platform to build or resell a list of the people in it. We may suspend a workspace that does. Suspension stops new activity; it does not forfeit balances already paid for.
6. Printing and mailing
- You approve the design before it is sent. Approval is yours to give, and what you approve is what is printed.
- The back of every postcard reserves an addressing area. Content placed under it will be hidden in print, and the editor warns you before you save.
- Colour, trim and finish vary between print runs. We do not warrant an exact colour match to what you see on screen.
- Once a batch is submitted to the printer it cannot be recalled. Delivery timing depends on the postal service and is outside our control.
- Addresses are mailed as supplied. We do not guarantee deliverability of an address you provide.
7. AI-assisted drafting
Surrad can draft copy, images and design changes with a third-party model, using AI credits as described in section 2. Output is a starting point, not advice and not a guarantee of accuracy. You are responsible for reviewing anything the AI produces before it is printed, including every factual and promotional claim. We do not warrant that generated copy is accurate, original, or compliant with the rules of your industry.
8. Tracking numbers and QR codes
- A tracking number is provisioned for a fixed term with an included call allowance and does not roll unused minutes forward. Terms are renewed manually.
- You must own or be authorised to use the destination the number forwards to, and you are responsible for complying with call-handling and recording law in the places you operate.
- QR destinations must point to content you control. Changing a destination after a batch has been sent requires an elevated role. Destination-only changes keep campaign approval; enabling or disabling a QR link resets approval.
9. Service status and availability
Surrad is under active development. Features behind explicit flags, and any feature labelled as unverified in the product, may change or be withdrawn. We aim for continuous availability but do not offer an uptime guarantee under these terms, and we may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service — with notice where the change materially affects you.
10. Fees, taxes and changes
Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes, which are your responsibility unless we are required to collect them. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice before they take effect on your next renewal. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance of the new price.
11. Termination
You may stop using Surrad and close your account at any time; cancellation takes effect as described in section 2. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that creates legal risk for us or for the people being mailed, or for non-payment. On termination you can export your data, and we delete it as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimers and liability
Except as expressly stated, the service is provided "as is" and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that mail will produce any particular commercial result.
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost profits or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your mailing lists, or your use of the service in breach of these terms — in particular a claim that you were not entitled to mail a person you instructed us to mail.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction. Before filing, please contact us at hello@surrad.com — most disputes are resolved faster that way.
15. General
These terms are the entire agreement between us on this subject. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it to a successor. We will give notice of material changes by email before they take effect.
